Here is a simple and quick to make pie you can use as an alternative to German Chocolate Cake.

1 9inch pie (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. 2
    Combine sugar, cornstarch, flour, cocoa and salt.
  3. 3
    Add eggs, butter and milk; then coconut and vanilla.
  4. 4
    Pour into pastry shell and bake for 35-40 minutes.

    Top will be crusty and firm.

I chose this recipe for PAC fall '07 and it is another winner from this chef. My mom used to prepare something similar to this and I just loved it. Thanks for posting and for bringing back wonderful memories.

    Really easy. I also used walnuts. The pie smells great while baking. I made it as a tart and would consider serving it with a scoop of white ice cream or some good stiff whipped cream just to offset the brownness of it. Nice to have a pie recipe you just throw together!

    just too easy and delicious. this reminds me of a pecan pie, texture-wise, but so much lighter. we love the coconut and i used crushed walnuts. great dessert, thanks bev
