Quinoa is a very high protein grain which originated in the Andes mountains of Bolivia and Peru as a staple food of the Incas. It's gluten-free and rich in L-lysine, phosphorus, calcium, iron, B vitamins, and vitamin E. A yet untried recipe submitted for Zaar World Tour II.

SERVES 4 -5 , 3 cups (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Sauté onion in olive oil for 2-3 minutes; add garlic and continue sautéing for another 30 seconds or so.
  2. 2
Add quinoa, water and salt to pan; bring to boil then reduce heat then cover and simmer 15 minutes until liquid is absorbed.

Good recipe! I used chicken stock because I didn't have broth on hand. Made a great side dish.

Delicious!!! I used red quinoa as that was all I could find and it still was fantastic. Great flavor. I subbed 1 cup homemade bone broth for the water and it definitely adds to the flavor. We've made this weekly since trying it!

This was our first time trying quinoa and we both liked it and it is a nice change from the rice we eat 3-4 times a week. I cut the quinoa down to half a cup, kept the onions and garlic the same as in the full recipe and used half broth and half water. We will definitely be making this again. Thanks for posting!

Wow, this is good! I used the quinoa prep recipe # 16399 - Toasted Qunioa and even made this with straight water, only 1.5 teaspoons of garlic, and it was terrific. It came out perfect, but I will try it again with different broths. I can get my picky omni family to eat this now. Thanks!
