A simple yet delicious garlic bread that's a good compliment to whatever main course you're having. I prefer it without the parmesan cheese, but you can add it if you prefer.

SERVES 8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Mix together the butter, oil, garlic, and salt.
  2. 2
Add the parsley and mix. (If using fresh parsley, I use about 1 Tablespoon. If using dried parsley, I use about 2 pinches.).
  3. 3
Cut the french bread in half, length-wise, so you have a top half and a bottom half.
  4. 4
Spread the butter mixture on both halves.
  5. 5
If desired, sprinkle about 1-2 Tablespoons of grated parmesan on each half.
  6. 6
Place each half "butter side up" on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 until heated through. Then turn to broil, watching constantly, to brown slightly. Be careful not to let it burn on broil. Broiling should take no longer than a minute.

Very good, easy garlic bread. I liked the addition of Italian seasoning.

We really enjoyed this. I mixed the parmesan cheese right in with the butter mixture before spreading it on the bread. Skipped the broiler part and baked the bread at 425 for about 15 minutes until golden brown. Excellent. thanks.

This is great garlic bread that is very easy to make. From a 1 lb loaf of french bread I had four nice size pieces on my cookie sheet. I think I should have doubled the butter mixture as there were some dry spots on the bread after baking but it still had a very nice flavor. Grated the parmesan cheese on top of the bread and used dried parsley. Served with faith58's No Meat Baked Spaghetti and enjoyed a wonderful meal!Thank you hon for sharing! Made and reviewed for the Zaar Stars tag game.
