After seeing all the 5 star reviews for this recipe, we were very disappointed with the results we got from this recipe. First, there is no way only 1/4 tsp water will "dissolve" an entire packet of KoolAid. Second, 1 tsp honey wasn't nearly enough to sweeten up the very sour taste. This recipe just plain doesn't work as written...at least not for us it didn't.

My daughters needed a fun take-along for a Christmas party of all preteen girls, so we made this and Chocolate Lip Balm #69998. It was so simple, but fun and different and a big hit with all the girls (and their moms were all so impressed with me ;o). I found a package of inexpensive little plastic paint pots at the craft store that each held about 1-1/2 tsp and had airtight lids; as written, this recipe filled 2 pots with a bit left over, but it multiplies easily. We did have to put the mixture in the microwave for about 5-8 seconds and stir well, to get the KoolAid to dissolve fully so the gloss didn't feel gritty. It took a few turns through the micro...but we also learned not to do 15 sec at once because all the shortening melted and the mixture separated and didn't set up right in the fridge (feel free to learn from my errors, lol!). It was also easier to spoon into the little cups when it was a bit warmer. We used strawberry flavor and it turned out a much deeper color than I'd expected, very Christmas-y; I think next time we may add the extra honey as the others suggested. Thanks!

i would give more stars if i could-really! this was easy to make and turned out so fruity and sweet. i used extra strawberry kool aid, less water and added a bit more honey and i piped it into the little cups with a pastry bag. i gave it to all the moms in my MOPS group for valentine's day in a gift bag with cinnamon bark and they loved it. i got a lot of requests for the recipe. this would be perfect to make at a little girl's birthday party for all the girls to take home. thanks for a fun and easy recipe
