This recipe was given to me many years ago by Mrs. Orin Stevens of Fargo, ND. She told me she'd gotten it from a church cookbook. I've used fresh, frozen and canned peaches with equal success.

This was a good recipe, though the topping was more cakey than biscuity, which is what I like. I used 4 fresh plums and 1 large can (29 oz) peaches. Like another reviewer, I used the peach juice instead of making sugar water. I also cut the sugar in the dough by almost half. I did use half & half in place of the milk (it needed to be used up) and ended-up using almost double what the recipe called for, but it did say to pour the batter and what originally came out was not pourable. I also melted the butter like some other readers. We ended-up with a very nice flavor, not really sweet like most cobblers, so that I could serve it with ice cream (we definitely prefer it this way) and it probably had a lot to do with the fact that we used plums and left the skins on. Anyway, a good recipe. Very yummy!

DELICIOUS! I made this over a fortnight ago. Would definatly make this again. I used two differnt brands of halved peaches and a can of apple sauce on the bottom. I also kept the syrup from the canned peaches and used this instead of the water. So much flavour. Yummy, very good the next day aswel!! =]

This is the best cobbler I've ever eaten, hands down! I was a little worried as I was making it since there didn't seem to be enough batter and I had never used a recipe where you poured sugar water over it before baking. But, it turned out PERFECT. I added a little whipped cream for garnish but this cobbler honestly didn't need a single thing to improve it. It was sweet but not overly so. The cake part was light and flavorful instead of dense or doughy like some cobblers and it had a delicate, crisp crust. We enjoyed it so much I'm buying more peaches to make it again. This recipe goes into my 10 Stars or More cookbook & will be used again and again. Thanks so much for sharing it, countrywife.

I made this using half Granny Smith apples and half peaches, I also added in 1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, I used half brown sugar and half white sugar. This really should be called "Perfect" Peach Cobbler, it IS the perfect recipe! This will go into my favorites and I look forward to making this again soon, thanks for sharing countrywife!...Kitten
