Recipe #199497 | 15 min | 10 min prep | add private note
Vseward (Chef~V)

By: Vseward (Chef~V)
Dec 6, 2006

A couple years ago my sister took my family to a resturant in Los Angeles. I ordered something off the menu called a "Yummy". From that point on I have been trying to duplicate it at home... I finally did! It's called a Yummy, because it is!

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese and confectioners' sugar; mix well then stir in the preserves.
  2. 2
Spread equally over 4 bread slices.
  3. 3
Top with the remaining bread slices, forming sandwiches.
  4. 4
In a shallow bowl, whisk the eggs, half-and-half, and granulated sugar until well combined.
  5. 5
In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat.
  6. 6
Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, completely coating both sides.
  7. 7
Cook 2 sandwiches at a time for 1 to 2 minutes per side, or until golden.
  8. 8
Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons butter in the skillet and cook the remaining 2 sandwiches.
  9. 9
Slice each in half diagonally and serve.

Yummy is an understatement...this french toast was sooooooo delicious. I used seedless raspberry jam in place of the strawberry preserves. The sweetened creaminess of the cream cheese really makes this dish. I melted some of the raspberry jam in the microwave and poured it over the french toast and added a touch of whipped cream. I was in breakfast heaven. Thanks for another great recipe, V! Made for PAC Fall, 2009.

A lovely tasty brekky, I love how the cream cheese, jam filling all mushes together and kind of melts out the sides. , mmmm!

I used raspberry preserves and skipped the sugar both in the cream cheese and in the egg mixture. This reminds me of my French Toast With Raspberry, Chocolate & Cream Cheese. This didn`t need syrup but my DH used it! Thanks V for a great breakfast! Must say French toast is my favorite breakfast.

Loved it! Used the same amount of filling for only 6 slices of bread, turned out extremely well. Would increase the egg and reduce the milk in the future to achieve a more French toast crust.
