This was my mother's recipe. She was a wonderful cook! Hope you enjoy this recipe as much as my family does.

2 dozen (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • food coloring, if desired

Directions

  1. 1
    Pre-heat oven to 350°F.
  2. 2
    Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper or parchment paper.
  3. 3
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
  4. 4
    Add sugar gradually, beating until stiff (BUT NOT GRAINY).
  5. 5
    Stir in food coloring, if desired.
  6. 6
    Add nuts and chocolate chips.
  7. 7
    Drop by teaspoonfuls onto the cookie sheets.
  8. 8
    Place in oven and turn the oven off.
  9. 9
    Leave in the oven for 3-4 hours or overnight.
