This yummy ground beef casserole is based on a recipe from When Dinnerbells Rings; selected recipe reprinted by Quail Ridge Press. Freezes well.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    Brown the beef.
  2. 2
    Add onions, green pepper, mushrooms, tomatoes, catsup, steak sauce and parsley.
  3. 3
    Simmer 30 minutes.
  4. 4
    Cook macaroni according to package directions.
  5. 5
    Drain.
  6. 6
    Combine macaroni and ground beef mixture in casserole dish.
  7. 7
    Season to taste.
  8. 8
    Gently spoon mushroom soup into mixture.
  9. 9
    Mix lightly.
  10. 10
    Sprinkle with grated cheese.
  11. 11
    Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbling and brown.

    I really like this recipe. I made a few changes of course because that is what I do. I didn't have steak sauce so I used Worchester Sauce. Only one can of tomatoes. Added Velveta to the soup and put crushed potato chips on top before baking. It was great. Thanks for the recipe.

    I made this for my family and a friend who'd just had a baby and everyone raved! Simple to prepare and very comforting. I used diced tomatoes and left out the mushrooms, but it was still good. Definitely a good recipe for a potluck. Thanks for sending!
