This is quintessential Finnish home food. Kids love this with ketchup.

This is a nice dish to use your pantry items. I added panko and a little butter to the top. We didn't go for the ketchup - it just didn't seem right somehow!! Thanks for the recipe!

Made this for part of zaar world tour 2. It had good flavor but even after adding more broth halfway thru the cooking and covering it this was very very dry.

This, as expected, was a huge hit with the kids (8 & 5). I would add more salt. I wonder if when I converted to US measurements, things got a little off & I rounded up for the meat & macaroni & down for the sauce? I overcooked it so the macaroni on top was crunchy. Next time, I'm going to cover it 1/2 way through baking. Nice, easy, simple, comfort food.

OK, so I'm Finnish and therefore probably biased, but I do like macaroni bake! The way I season this dish is by using beef bouillon cubes: I use about 1 cube/300g ground beef and just mix it in while I'm browning the meat. I add about 1 ts of salt and black pepper to the milk & eggs mixture, and top the whole thing with dry breadcrumbs before sticking it into the over. Ahh! Thanks for posting kolibri!
