A copycat of the Filet O fish sandwich found at the golden arches. Introduced by a franchise in Ohio to sell due to the Catholic practice of not eating meat on Fridays.

SERVES 2 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon sweet relish
  • 1 teaspoon onion, Minced
  • salt, pinch
  • 1 breaded fish fillet (Mrs. Paul's, Square)
  • 1 slice American cheese
  • 1 hamburger bun

Directions

  1. 1
In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, relish, minced onion, salt and set aside. This is your tartar sauce.
  2. 2
Lightly grill the top of the bun.
  3. 3
Cook the fish according to the package instructions. (You can bake.
  4. 4
the fish, but your sandwich will taste much more like the original if you fry it in oil.).
  5. 5
Spread tartar sauce evenly on the top bun.
  6. 6
Place a slice of cheese on the bottom bun.
  7. 7
Place the cooked fish on top of the cheese slice and top off the sandwich with the top bun.

This is the only thing I like at McDonalds besides the french fries. I decided to make some at home, and was glad to stumble across this recipe. Although Mrs. Pauls isn't the exact fish they use at McDonalds this was a good sandwich! We really enjoyed them along with some homemade french fries!
