You'll be licking your plates clean after tasting this dressing, it is that good and better than any bottled! this is best if made a few hours ahead to blend the flavors or make a day ahead --- for creamy French dressing add in the mayonnaise and for creamy blue cheese French dressing add in 1/4 cup or more of crumbled blue cheese --- all amounts may be adjusted to taste

3 1/2 cups (approx) (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a large food processor blend all ingredients together until smooth (starting with 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt and 1/2 cup sugar and add in more to taste after mixing.
  2. 2
Do not attempt to make this in a small 4-cup blender or you will have the dressing all over your counter!
  3. 3
Mix in the mayonnaise (if using) for a creamy-style French dressing.
  4. 4
Place in the fridge for a couple of hours before serving.

I don't usually eat French dressing, so I don't have anything to compare this to, but I really liked it. I made it to use on your taco salad. I love making condiments at home because its cheaper, and, in this case, I had everything in my pantry. Thank you!

I can't believe it took me this long to rate this! I've made this recipe 3 times now. The 1st time I was making a dip that called for french dressing and I didn't have any, so rather than go to the store I whipped this up. It was the best dip I've ever had! So for the same gathering I made everyone try the dressing and they LOVED it! Thanx for posting another winner!

My goodness, Kittencal, I could drink this stuff! And it's so easy and inexpensive to make. I'm done with the bottled stuff! EDITED Forgot to mention that I used half the amount of oil and replaced the sugar with Splenda. It was still DELICIOUS!

This was wonderful Kittencal! I made it with splenda for the diabetics here and low carb ketchup and he just loves that he can enjoy a sweet dressing without it causing problems...thanks
