I've roasted whole chickens before but this was my first time using one in the slow cooker. I was pretty pleased with the outcome! The chicken was great, tender and falling off the bone. The sauce was tasty and the veggies were great too. The entire onion soup mix wasn't overpowering at all. (though I have a box of it that I wanted to use up this time, next time I'll stick with the homemade versions to cut out all of that sodium) Next time I try this, I'd probably use skinless chicken to cut out a lot of the grease that accumulated in the cooker. Nice easy recipe! Thanks!

I SO wanted this recipe to work... I spent all day at work looking forward to it, and alas, it was a disaster! And I don't know WHY?!? I followed the recipe to a T (even using under a cup of liquid), however I came home to find almost a soup!!! I used a whole bird that promptly disintegrated when I tried to remove it. I did salvage some meat along with the vegies (and it was tasty!) but this just didn't work for me at all.... sorry! It sounded great! NB. This was definitely cooked on low too!

This recipe is simple to prepare and fall apart delicious! I left out the potatoes as I was planning to prepare mashed. I chose to use chicken broth instead of the white wine. We did not find the entire amount of soup mix to be too salty. The seasoning was perfect for our taste. I added a bit of flour mixed with water to the juices after the chicken had finished cooking and made gravy to serve over the chicken and potatoes. The carrots were cooked perfectly and our dinner was superb! Thank you, Barb!

It's so nice to come home and have a delicious meal cooked and ready to be served. Very satisfying! This recipe was really good and really easy. It only took me a few minutes in the morning to prepare, and the results were great. I used drumsticks instead of a fryer chicken, and they were excellent. The only change I might make in the future is to cut down on the salt by using half of the soup mix. This is a great, easy recipe. Thanks!
