I've made these several times and am just now remembering to review. Easy and tasty - no need to buy the canned stuff ever again.

This was waayyy too good for such an easy recipe. I wasn't sure what size can since it isn't stated but I had lots of people so used 4 15 oz cans. Also, I sauteed the onions in the butter and then added the mashed beans. It was perfect and everyone was raving. They all think I'm such a great cook hehehe. I told them it was a Zaar dinner and they were surprised. Thanks for helping me show off.

Best refried beans I have ever made, even better than the very very good, but very long to make other recipes on the site. I accidentally used diet 40% butter in the recipe, added a bit of tabasco, and completely left out the cheese. The only canned beans I could find here were kidney beans, and they worked great. Really one of my top three recipes on the site so far...
