Easy Refried Beans

Serve with chips, fill a tortilla or eat plain with some extra cheese.

Ingredients

Directions

    Bring beans to a boil in a saucepan.

    Strain liquid and discard.
  3. 3
    Put beans in an electric mixer and mash.
  4. 4
    Stir in onion, butter and salt.
  5. 5
    Return to saucepan and over low heat stir until heated thoroughly.
  6. 6
    Stir in grated cheese.

    This was waayyy too good for such an easy recipe. I wasn't sure what size can since it isn't stated but I had lots of people so used 4 15 oz cans. Also, I sauteed the onions in the butter and then added the mashed beans. It was perfect and everyone was raving. They all think I'm such a great cook hehehe. I told them it was a Zaar dinner and they were surprised. Thanks for helping me show off.

    Best refried beans I have ever made, even better than the very very good, but very long to make other recipes on the site. I accidentally used diet 40% butter in the recipe, added a bit of tabasco, and completely left out the cheese. The only canned beans I could find here were kidney beans, and they worked great. Really one of my top three recipes on the site so far...
