Easy Halloween Worm Cupcakes

A favorite of youngsters who visit our house. Grownups love them too!

SERVES 8 -10 , 12 cupcakes (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 (18 1/4 ounce) box chocolate cake mix

  • 3 cups any flavor cookie crumbs

  • 1 (18 ounce) can chocolate icing

  • 1 (16 ounce) bag gummy worms

Directions

    Preheat oven according to cake mix package directions.
  2. 2
    Grease and flour a 12-cup cupcake pan.
  3. 3
    Prepare cake mix according to package directions.
  4. 4
    Pour batter into cupcake pans and bake as directed on cake mix box.
  5. 5
    Let cupcakes cool thoroughly before frosting.
  6. 6
    Spread cupcakes lightly with chocolate icing. Sprinkle cookie crumbs on top.

    Cut gummy worms in half (as many as you like).
  8. 8
    Put icing onto cut end of the worms and stick to the top of cupcakes.
  9. 9
    You can use as few or as many as will fit on each cupcake.
  10. 10
    Let icing set for 10 minutes and then enjoy.

These cupcakes were a real hit. Even my teenagers loved them. I made a small cake version with the rest of batter. Thanks for this recipe!

    Cute, easy and cheap to make. What else can you ask for? I used Halloween sprinkles instead of the cookies.

    These were a hit at the last potluck! I simply chopped oreo cookies (filling and all) in my food processor- and it looked like rich topsoil. Thanks!
