I made these with my son for Easter and I too used the butterscotch chips with them instead of the sugar and syrup and they came out really well and tasted delicious. Thanks for posting we will be making these again next year!

I used to make these in Girl Scouts as "haystacks" rather than nests, and I thought the jelly bean eggs were cute. However, the ones I used to make were the butterscotch chip version (safer, maybe?) and I liked that flavor better. Perhaps if the sugar mixture were cooked longer it would be similar, but I think I will stick to the version I know. I will keep your adorable presentation, though.

These are great. I would actually recommend replacing the sugar and corn syrup with butterscotch chips instead. You would just heat the PB and Butterscotch on medium heat stirring constantly. Stir in the chow mein noodles and then form your nests. That way it tastes better and uses less messy ingredients

I give this 5 for appearance and 4 for taste. I wasn't crazy about the taste but the kids said they were pretty good, must be a kid thing I guess. They looked so pretty. I did add a splash of vanilla to them. I used Jolly Rancher jelly beans. I scaled the recipe to 1 1/2 doz. which then calls for 6 cups of chowmein noodles which equals 1 whole 12 oz bag. Would make for the kids again at Easter.
