Easy Peezy Pizza Dough (Bread Machine Pizza Dough)

Recipe #35805 | 3¼ hours | 3 hours prep | add private note

By: Karin...
Jul 30, 2002

This is a really easy way to make a good 'yeasty' pizza dough! As well as using this recipe for when I'm making pizza, I also use it for when I'm making a focaccia or a calzone. (The preparation time I have given includes the time it takes to make the dough in the machine and the time it takes for the pizza dough to proof - after removing it from the bread machine - (30 minutes)

1 -2 pizzas (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    SOME PIZZA TOPPING IDEAS.
  2. 2
    Caramelised onions and roasted garlic.
  3. 3
Mozzarella cheese, Camembert, Romano and Feta (for a really, really cheezy pizza!).
  4. 4
Equal parts of basil pesto and olive oil mixed together with Parmesan or Romano cheese.
  5. 5
Plus some roughly chopped sundried or SEMI-dried tomatoes, sliced black olives and LOTS of grated Mozzarella cheese, salt and lost of freshly ground black pepper!
  6. 6
Cranberry jelly, shredded chicken, sliced Brie!
  7. 7
Mozzarella cheese, shredded chicken and sliced avocado!
  8. 8
Place all the above ingredients in the order I have listed into the bread machine.
  9. 9
Select the dough cycle and press start!
  10. 10
When the dough cycle is complete, take the dough out of the machine and place in well greased bowl, and roll the dough around (in the bowl) thus'coating' it in oil.
  11. 11
Cover and leave to rise in a warm place for about 1/2 an hour.
  12. 12
    Knead the risen dough lightly.
  13. 13
To shape and bake: roll the dough into a circle.
  14. 14
Place on well greased baking tray or pizza pan.
  15. 15
Then add a topping of your choice and bake at 225'C.
  16. 16
NOTE: for a nice crisp and very thin pizza, bake BEFORE adding the topping AND after!

While this recipe is easy to put together using the bread machine....I had problems rolling this out. There was no way that that piece of dough wanted to be round...no matter how many times I attacked it!!! As for the taste, well...that part was very good!!! I might search around to see if I can find a dough that is a little bit more forgiving!!

Wonderful! 10 stars. During breakfast, I added the ingredients to the ABM, water on the bottom, yeast on top. Set the timer to be done 10 hours later(!) When I got home, the house already smelled good. I rolled it in olive oil as you prescribed and placed a little on my dish. Then some cornmeal. I then tossed the dough in the air (very clumsily, but I'm sure others could do it well since the texture was great) and placed it on the dish. I didn't bother to let it rise since I never rolled the air out in the first place and I was hungry. Baked 425F 5 minutes while I got the toppings out, placed toppings, and then baked until toasty. Maybe 15 more minutes? Better than our (former) favorite restaurant's, at a fraction of the cost, in less time than I would spend eating out, and with no screaming kid in public. The time and cost factors were even more substantial since the toppings were leftovers (so "free" and "wholesome") and already prepped. Thank you!

Great crust! I have been looking for a good crust recipe since I bought my bread machine a few months ago. My only suggestion is to oil your hands before handling the dough!(when you take it out of the machine and out of the bowl) Thanks for the recipe.

My husband and I love this easy to make dough for pizza and calzones... only thing I found is that in my bread machine I have to add the water FIRST, otherwise all the flour won't mix in.
