I got this recipe from the trainer of my dog's puppy obedience class. It's so easy and both my dog and cat love them. For some reason this seems to only work with chicken hot dogs. It does not work with beef.

750 pieces (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken hot dogs
  • 2 chicken hot dogs

Directions

  1. 1
Cut hot dogs into quarters, lengthwise.
  2. 2
Slice into approximately 1/2 inch pieces.
  3. 3
Spread on a microwave safe plate.
  4. 4
Microwave on high for 10 minutes.
  5. 5
    Hot dogs will become hard.
  6. 6
Store for 1 day at room temperature, 1 week in fridge, or 3 months in freezer.

My sweet border collie Lucy would do all sorts of tricks for these treats while my two cats just played with them until they were bored and Lucy came by to snatch them up. Thanks for a quick treat for the animals. Made for Photo Tag.

My fussy little poodle and my 2 cats loved these little treats, although I would only suggest these once in a while as they are high in salt which if given in excess could be a bad thing for your pet, thanks for sharing Dreamer!...Kitten

Amazing idea! Dog treats are so expensive, I had to try these! I had a "test panel"... my dog, Penny Lane, and her Dog Park buddies, Cosmo, Chester, and Ratzo. Hey, 4 out of 4 dogs can't be wrong!! Thanks, I will pass this one on!
