Donut Glaze

Recipe #121968 | 15 min | 15 min prep | add private note

This is a glaze for plain yeast donuts that I found on a copy cat website.

SERVES 12 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
For either the plain or the chocolate glaze, combine the margarine or butter with the powdered sugar in a medium bowl and blend with an electric mixer.
  2. 2
Add the vanilla and hot water. Mix until smooth.
  3. 3
If you're making the chocolate glaze, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave for 30 to 40 seconds. Stir, then microwave another 30 seconds and stir again until completely melted. Add to the plain glaze mixture. Blend until smooth.
  4. 4
When the donuts have cooled, dip each \top surface into the glaze and then flip over and cool on a plate until the glaze firms up, about 15 minutes.

Loved this glaze. I used the chocolate version on Incredible & Easy Raised Donuts and it was perfect. I followed the directions exactly and it was the perfect glaze for my dounuts. I dipped each donut - allowed them to dry for about 10 minutes and then dipped a second time, this gave me a great chocolate glaze. My DGSs and their friends who where all visiting thank you.

Great glaze recipe! Thank you so much. I used this on the Bread Machine Donuts recipe and it worked perfectly. I think I prefer the non chocolate version surprisingly. The semi sweet chocolate is too sweet for me (the choco lover) lol. Still good though. I may try doing Jelly filling next time. Thank you again this is a keeper for me. UPDATE:::Made this again and yum this stuff is so yummy and addicting Thanks for the delish recipe.

yummy glze. Instead of the hot water I used cold milk, and instead of choc chips I used cocoa powder. I mixed little by little until the taste suited me
