Domestic Goddess Chili

Recipe #45709 | 30 min | 10 min prep | add private note
Domestic Goddess

A hearty kind of chili with a little bit of a bite. This recipe came from the 1989 tv show, "Roseanne". I've been preparing this chili for 20 years now. It's my "favorite" chili.

SERVES 8 -10 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Cook ground beef in Dutch oven over high heat; stirring to break up meat, until no longer pink (for 3 minutes).
  2. 2
Add onions; cook and stirring until translucent (for 2 minutes).
  3. 3
Stir in chili powder and garlic; cook one minute.
  4. 4
Stir in tomato sauce and taco sauce.
  5. 5
Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
  6. 6
Stir in kidney beans and heat through.
  7. 7
Top each bowl with shredded cheese, and scoop up with tortilla chips.
  8. 8
Note: This recipe calls for 2-(15 oz.) cans of kidney beans, but I only add one.

Hi Domestic Goddess, We loved your chili.  My husband loves taco sauce so I new he would love this.  I used one jar of mild taco sauce and one jar of medium sauce.  It had just enough heat for both of our tastes. Thanks!

This is a quick and delicious chili recipe. I've never tried taco sauce (I used mild) in chili before and I really liked it. Excellent flavor and very filling. I love leftovers and I'll have a lot with this recipe. Thanks for sharing!
