Dixie Cup Booties--Baby Shower Favors

Recipe #260595 | 20 min | 20 min prep | add private note

I gave a small baby shower for a scout mom, and needed a cute, inexpensive favor. Found this on the internet, but made a few changes, instead of Dixie cups, I used Solo bathroom size, (3 oz.) plastic cups instead. You can find them at the grocery store. They are stronger, and work great. The shower I gave was for a baby boy, but you can use any color ribbon for the booties, everyone at the shower commented on how cute they looked!

SERVES 15 -20 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Make two slits about an inch and a half apart down the side of the cup.
  2. 2
This will be the tongue of the shoe.
  3. 3
Along each side of the tongue, punch holes for the "shoe laces".
  4. 4
Run ribbon through the holes in the same way you would lace a pair of shoes.
  5. 5
Tie in a bow and fill with mints, nuts, or whatever you like.
  6. 6
Note: If you use Dixie cups, to keep the holes from ripping when laces are tied a little clear nail polish can be applied, but let dry before threading the laces.

I thought this was a great idea! I am using them for a shower for a friend. My husband & I worked for 2 hours on 45 of them. He found that using a 4.50 crochet hook worked wonders for "lacing" the cups.

Hosted a baby shower for my sister-in-law and made these for decorations/favors. I altered the directions slightly (couldn't find any plain white dixie cups). I used styrofoam cups and used a metal brad (found in the office area of wal-mart) to hold the edges together then hot glued a ribbon over the brad to hide it. From start to finish it only took me about 45 minutes to make around 35 of them! Very easy to make and everyone loved them!

My DIL is having twins, a boy and a girl, so this was the perfect shower favor! I did some in pink and some in blue. I filled with pastel colored mints. Everyone brought one home as a thank you for sharing the day with us! Everyone loved the idea and they were so cute on the theme table of pink and blue. Thanks for sharing such a great idea Paula!

This made a wonderful inexpensive favor for my sister's baby shower. Everyone thought they were so cute. I made blue, pink, green and yellow ones. I filled them with pastel mints and candy coated almonds. Thank you! Kim
