Dill Pickle Ham Pinwheels (Ham Rollups)

Here's a quick, great party pleaser I've made for years which has a lot of variability. It's really simple and goes well with beer and soft drinks at neighborhood or family gatherings.

SERVES 6 -8 , 25 -30 appetizers (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Pat dill pickle dry with paper towel.
  2. 2
Take 2-3 pieces of meat (depending on size of pickle), and place them on a cutting board overlapping half of each with the next. (If you're lucky, you can find the ham cut in a rectangular shape as opposed to square. In this case, you can use just one slice and it will encase the entire pickle.).
  3. 3
    Spread cream cheese over meat.
  4. 4
(You can use more cream cheese if you like.) Wrap pickle around in blanket fashion.
  5. 5
Chill for an hour or two, then slice pickle in~1/2 inch pieces and lay flat on tray.
  6. 6
(If using dried beef, you can also put meat in blender and pulverize. Spread cream cheese on dried pickle then roll in pulverized beef. Again, allow to refrigerate 1-2 hours and slice as above.).

I thought I had reviewed these already but apparently not. Super easy and low carb as well! Awesome snack. Thanks so much.

Hi, I've been making these for years but I make 1/2 of them with green onions and the other 1/2 with dill pickle. I personally prefer the onion but others prefer the pickle, so everyoné happy.

Yum - we have been making these for years and love them. We use the midget polish dills and dried beef. We spread the softened cream cheese on the dried beef then roll it around the pickle.

This was initially planned as a gluten free appetizer at a recent gathering at our house this month - finding how good they were I made up enough for everyone. Good thing! Found a white square serving platter makes these even more appealing - if that's possible! Filled a little crystal container with picks and set it along side. Used a large package of ham containing no fillers, had my ham slices just the right size to wrap the pickle. Spread the ham generously with Phildelphia cream cheese spreadable (chive and onion) rolled it around the pickle wrapped tightly with wrap and refrigerated. Longer refrigeration makes for great slices. Went one step further for for the rest of the guests, made some up rolling around a great tasting cooked sausage. Both were real winners - not only the guests but the teenager gave these the thumbs up too! Thank you for sharing a great appetizer recipe to add to my collection.
