Dessert Cheese Ball

Recipe #48490 | 3 hours | 3 hours prep | add private note

I got this recipe from a friend of mine after eating it at a Christmas party. I usually cut back on the chips I stir into the ball and roll the ball in chips instead of nuts. Just personal preference. I also buy regular and chocolate graham crackers and arrange them around the ball for a nice presentation. Enjoy!

Every time I make this people go crazy! It is super sweet, and I have experimented with less powdered sugar too, but will try light cream cheese next time. I have had trouble making it into a ball, but it is still worth it- use a bowl! I make it by rolling in chopped pecans. The appearance is misleading and until someone daring tries it and starts raving, it usually sits untouched for some time...so flair up the plate a bit.

I was really excited about this recipe but unfortunately it didn't work out. Maybe I did something wrong, but I'm pretty sure I followed the directions exactly. The "ball" ended up turning into a "pancake", even with chilling. The flavor wasn't that great, and no one at the party I brought it to attempted to try it - very unusual as when everyone sees me bring something in they run to grab their share. I really felt this deserved two stars but didn't have the heart to post them. Sorry, I wouldn't try this one again.

Oh, my, what a delicious surprise this has been to many of my guests! I found that if you use light cream cheese, it forms a ball better and is still totally delicious! I made the basic "dough" (butter, cr. cheese, sugars, 1/2 tsp vanilla cuz I like it), then split it, making one with 1/4 C semisweet minichips (then roll in 1/8 cup chips), and the other I popped a milk chocolate candy bar (I used Symphony) into the food processer, and rolled that one in toasted slivered almonds. My guests couldn't decide which was more wonderful. And those graham cracker sticks in honey and chocolate are perfect! Thanks, TrinkDawg, for a real keeper!
