Ingredients
Crust
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
First layer

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup Cool Whip
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Second layer
-
2 (3 1/2 ounce) packages instant pudding mix or instant vegetarian pudding mix
- 3 cups milk
Third layer
Alternatives
- pistachio pudding mix, garnish with chopped nuts or coconut
- butterscotch pudding, garnish with crushed almond roca, heath bar or slivered almonds
- chocolate pudding, garnish with small chocolate chips, crushed peppermint candies or coconut
- lemon pudding mix, garnish with lemon rind
- coconut pudding mix, garnish with coconut or miniature chocolate chips
Directions

For the crust: Mix crust ingredients well.2
Press into a 9 x 13 inch baking pan.3
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.4
For the first layer: Mix first layer ingredients well.5
Spread over crust.6
Second layer: Mix and spread over first layer.7
Spread third layer (Cool Whip) over pudding layer and garnish.

My MIL sent me this recipe many years ago and called it Butterscotch Spectacular. Sounds so much better than Dessert, dont you think? It's always good and gooey and yummy, no matter where I take it or what flavor I use.

I made this also using pecans in the crust, also used chocolate pudding, added heath bits on top can we say "OMG AWESOME" in heaven! Thanks for an awesome recipe, will definitely make this over and over again!!

I make this recipe by adding chopped pecans to the crust before baking. I use chocolate pudding. We call it sex in a pan because it is so-o-o good!
