Deep Fried Turkey injection - butter creole

Recipe #37017 | 50 min | 5 min prep | add private note

By: Scibba
Aug 13, 2002

Found this on the 'net'. Needed a cajun butter recipe on a minutes notice! Was the best deep fried turkey I have had!

SERVES 10 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Melt butter slowly as not to burn.
  2. 2
Add rest of ingredients and mix well.
  3. 3
(I place in a covered bowl and shake vigorously).
  4. 4
Inject into your turkey and allow to sit for one hour or more before deep frying.
  5. 5
HINT: We were cooking the turkey while camping, and decided to leave it in the bag to inject it, so it would not be so messy!
  6. 6
    It worked great!

We really liked this recipe. I had to use regular salt since the store was out of kosher salt. I had some difficulty keeping it mixed but you just have to stir and suck it in the injector quickly! We used this then deep fried our turkey for Christmas dinner. DELICIOUS. I used the last of the spiced butter to rub the turkey then sprinkled it w/ cajun seasoning. We will use this recipe again.

We use this recipe all the time for our deep fried turkeys. Friends often request a turkey done this way as their gift request. We also season the outside with exactly all the same ingredients as injection but measurements doubled. WE try other mixtures and store bought bottled injections and always come back to this one.

I wondered about using this recipe on a turkey cooked in the oven, so before Thanksgiving I tried it for a dry run to see if we liked it. I made the turkey very moist and flavorful. Worked perfect!!! Thanks for posting.
