We made this a few months ago and forgot to review it. This was a great chili, I think the seasoning mix is what does it. In fact, I'd give it five stars on the mix alone. That stuff is magical. It will make anything taste like chili, in a good way. We didn't feel like cooking a few days so we heated a can of tomatoes, a can of kidney beans and a can of black beans with about 1.5tbsp of seasoning mix and it was delicious. The first time we made the seasoning mix we quartered it, this time I think we might end up doubling it!

This was super great chili! I have my own tried and true recipe, but I figured I would try this since I needed to use the crock-pot. Well, my family flipped over it and my husband said I outdid myself! (I explained that I couldn't take the credit!) I used small white beans and light kidney beans for the puree. I didn't put them in the blender, instead I put them in the crock-pot first and mushed them up with a potato masher. I love this part of the recipe, because my family is getting more fiber and they don't have a clue! I have never used cumin or coriander and was worried they might be too strong but the chili tasted like...well...Chili! Thanks so much for sharing! P.S. I used 2 lbs. of ground beef...otherwise, didn't change a thing. NOTE: The spice mix makes enough for at least two batches of chili.

Very good chili! I followed the recipe to a T, but wasn't sure if I was supposed to drain the kidney beans before blending. I didn't, but will next time. Next time, I'll also increase the cayenne a bit, and I'll likely chop an onion and brown with the beef. As I was eating this batch, I could tell that this had the potential to be really perfect for me. One thing for those planning to prepare this dish... if you're like me and easily grossed out, try not to look at the blended bean mixture; it's NASTY looking! Worth it, but very visually unappealing! Thanks for posting this recipe!
