Cucumber Yogurt Sauce for Gyros

Recipe #81045 | 5 min | 5 min prep | add private note

By: Shaye

This sauce is really easy, and can be adapted to use fat free yogurt. I usually make it to go with gyros, and end up dipping everything else in it, too.

    Combine and serve with gyros.

This was SO good. I used the full fat, organic yogurt. And after chopping up the cucumber, I made sure to grate a little extra into the sauce, and followed the rest of the recipe as put...5 stars! Thanks Shaye!

shame on the amateurs who rated this tasty recipe poorly...This was my 1st attempt @ a cucumber yogurt sauce & I was very pleased with the results! YES I made sure to squeeze out the excess moisture from the chopped cukes, too & used a good quality yogurt (not one of those cheap soupy types) Next time I make it, it'll be served with lamb kabobs...YUM

Yum, yum, YUMMY!! What a great dinner we had! Thank you for your great recipes! I like the taste so much better with yogurt than sour cream like alot of the other recipes. I did add a little dill and salt and did a little extra fine chop on half of the cucumber. I used a tea towel to wring out the cucumber, it's amazing how much water comes out. We put the yogurt in cheese cloth, but we were too impatient to wait more than 20 minutes. It was perfect

FANTASTIC! I omitted the sugar and onions, added a little olive oil, and chopped up some fresh dill to fold into the yogurt. Great with salmon as well as gyros.
