A perfect way to use up a stale loaf of bread or leftover baguette. My little niece used to eat homemade croutons as a snack by the handfuls. These are so much better than the store bought kind and can be used to serve with salads and soup. From Bride and Groom, First and Forever Cookbook.

This is a great crouton recipe. I doubled all but the salt and bread cubes; added 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning to it. My family is eating them by the handful! I had to hide some for the salad! I was asked to make these again.

Oh, Cookiedog, I think you are my salad's new best friend. These were very easy and very good. I agree with the other posters that said they are crunchy without being hard. I used a mini boule of sourdough bread I had left out of a pack of 2. Thanks for posting!

Mmm, very nice croutons! Lots of flavor and I love that the mix of butter and olive oil made them nice and crispy! Merci! Made for the Epcurean Queens for ZWT 2009!

OOOOooooo....Cookie...I'm so so happy I found your recipe. Here I was sitting on 3/4's of a loaf of french bread from NewYears Day and hated to throw it away. Your recipe has just the right blend of seasonings that I was looking for. Perfectly baked up in 20 minutes. I eat a salad most days and so this is a recipe that will be repeated often. Thanks Cook~!
