My husband loves this! I use ground nuts as he doesn't always like nuts in things and I can be sneaky that way. I think peaches would be wonderful substituted for the apples.

Hooray! I made this for about 1.5-2 servings (for ME!) I used a mixture of old fashioned oats, Irish oatmeal, steel cut oats, and oat bran. I used water in place of the milk, and stevia to sweeten. The apple was nummy and dried cranberries instead of raisins. Instead of cinnamon powder I broke a cinnamon stick in half. Skipped the butter and topped with almond milk. Oh! SO CREAMY and good. THANKS!

I used the liquid ratio as suggested of 3 parts to 1 part oats. The texture was lovely and my 16 month old liked it. To me, it was odd tasting. The ingredients were fine, the oats just tasted watered down. Kind of like ice that has been sitting too long in the freezer. Not horrible but not right either. I loved the idea but it didn't work for me. I guess if I wasn't an oatmeal lover and used to eating it every day I wouldn't have noticed the odd taste.

for a better texture, try steel cut oats, instead of rolled oats or quick oats. use a 3:1 liquid to oats ratio and put them with fruit & nuts in your crock pot on low for 8 hrs (right before you to go bed)

I used a 3:1 ratio of liquid to oats as well - 6 cups of water (instead of milk) and 2 cups of oats. I tossed in some dried fruit - blueberries, cherries, cranberries - added the brown sugar, butter, salt, cinnamon and a splash of vanilla extract, and let it cook all night. YUMMY! It was so nice to have a hot breakfast ready and waiting when I got up. I'll be using this recipe again - thanks so much for sharing!
