Crock Pot Cola Ham

Recipe #49786 | ½ day | 5 min prep | add private note

By: Jamie Renee
Jan 3, 2003

A popular, easy, and flavorful way to cook a small ham for the holidays, a dinner party or to have ham for sandwiches, soups or casseroles.

SERVES 8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Remove ham from packaging.
  2. 2
Lightly score ham in diagonal lines first one way, then crosswise, to form a diamond pattern, being careful not to cut any deeper than about a eighth of an inch. (You can score both sides if you like).
  3. 3
Make a paste of brown sugar and mustard (I used Boar's Head Honey Mustard).
  4. 4
Rub paste into ham on sides that have been lightly scored.
  5. 5
    Transfer to crock pot.
  6. 6
Pour in two cans of coca cola into bottom of pot, not pouring directly over ham to wash away brown sugar paste.
  7. 7
    Cook on low 7-8 hours.

I loved this recipe because it's simple but adds a great flavor to the ham, no to mention I get to use my crock pot! I made a 5 lb. ham that just fit in my crock pot. I got a little crazy with the Coke because my wife had 20 oz. bottles in the fridge, so I ended up putting in more like 30 oz. by mistake cause I wasn't thinking when I was pouring it! The ham turned out great! I just had to baste out some of the excess coke/ham juice mixture so the crock pot wouldn't overflow! LOL I will use this recipe again fer sher!

This is the best ham I have ever had the pleasure of eating. My persnickity mother-in-law, who never gives a compliment, was all a twitter over how delicious this was. Very easy to make, I might add. We like a sweet-glazed ham so this one was perfect for us. I used a good quality honey mustard. Thanks and will be making this one again.

I had a smaller ham, so only used one can of coke. Ham came out lovely, with a yummy sweet taste. Next time, I think I'll try jazzing it up a little--maybe more mustard? Horseradish? It was good, though, and very easy to make. Thanks!
