Absolutely fabulous recipe: super easy, super tasty, and hard to mess up. First time around I used apples (and half the sugar as others mentioned), and subbed Pumpkin Pie Spice for the ground cloves. Also didn't bother to peel the apples, just tossed it all in the food processor before the final uncovered cook...made for a nice thick butter with wonderful color. I also cooked it overnight, so it only got a few stirs before bed. YUMMOLA! Now have it in the pot with pears this time...excited to see how it turns out! Nice to wake up in the morning to the smell of apple/pear butter cooking

I did so many things wrong making this recipe and it was still awesome, lol! I forgot to chop the apples finely before putting them in, so they cooked for an hour on high before I remembered to go mash them up. Then I feel asleep while they were cooking and didn't end up stirring it at all! I cooked it 11 hours, 2 hours uncovered, and it turned out just perfect. Thank you so much!

I made this Apple Butter some time ago and apparently forgot to write a review. This is a delicious apple butter made it using splenda instead of sugar. I canned it instead of freezing it because of lack of space in freezer. I did a hot pack method, water bath for 10 minutes. This worked very good for me. Thank you for posting the recipe!

Apple butter is so expensive that I never buy it, but from now on I won't have to because I can make my own! My neighbour gave my two bags of apples from their tree and i knew that this recipe would be a perfect way to use them up. I used 27 small apples and they filled my crockpot 3/4 full. They cooked for 8 hours on high. I did blend the cooled mixture in the blender for a smoother texture. This was perfect to serve on the apple scones that imade Apple Cheddar Scones
