Creamy Ramen Noodles

Recipe #133448 | 10 min | 5 min prep | add private note

A really special friend shared this recipe with me several years ago. It was his trick for dressing up those inexpensive noodles for his kids, and I think it is very good. This is great on its own as a quick meal, but can be an easy side for many dishes. We prefer the chicken or beef flavored noodles for this.

SERVES 2 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 (3 ounce) package ramen noodles, any flavor, with seasoning packet

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup milk

Directions

  1. 1
Bring water to boil in a small sauce pan.
  2. 2
Add dried noodles and cook 3 minutes, or until noodles are tender. Stir occasionally.
  3. 3
Drain away water. Return noodles to sauce pan.
  4. 4
Add butter, milk and contents of seasoning packet.
  5. 5
If your tastes desire, you may not use all of the seasoning packet.
  6. 6
Heat on low heat and stir until butter is melted and noodles are coated with creamy sauce.
  7. 7
    Serve.

What a great recipe for 2 minute noodles (this is what we call them in Aust/NZ). Amber (4) devoured these. I cut the butter back to about 2-3 teaspoons and added a few chopped up veggies but the "sauce" is the real winner. Thank you Ms_Bold, my kids loved this and I will use this often!

Thank You Vote_For_Pedro for a different twist on the old basic standby. It certainly was creamy. My DH and I thought it was fine, but my DS's were shocked that I would dare try to change 'a perfect'(to them) thing! Will make it again, though change the flavor(I used beef, and it was 'quite' beefy), and will decrease the amount of flavor pkt.
