Creamy Garlic Prawns

Recipe #166413 | 20 min | 10 min prep | add private note

By: magic_elle
May 1, 2006

This recipe is "to die for". Prawns sautéed in fresh garlic and coriander cream sauce. Simple to make. Remember to use lite cream and only half the salt content for a healthier alternative.

SERVES 2 -4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Peel and devein prawns leaving tails on.
  2. 2
In a small bowl combine lemon juice, crushed garlic, salt and pepper.
  3. 3
In a heavy based skillet, melt butter and olive oil on a medium heat.
  4. 4
Once butter has melted add prawns and garlic mixture and increase heat to ensure prawns are cooked quickly.
  5. 5
Toss prawns and mixture for 1-2 minutes or until prawns turn pink.
  6. 6
Add coriander and toss for a further 30 seconds.
  7. 7

  8. 8
    Serve with jasmine rice.

This dish is a lifesaver! I was actually panicking as my 3 guests were arriving in 30 min and I was running late from work. But this dish was so quick and easy to make, with time to spare!!! Best part was that it's so yummy. One of my personal fav recipes now. I used dried coriander flakes the second time round and while it still tastes great, I confess nothing brings out the flavour quite like the fresh ones! Thanks Elle for this inspiring recipe, I am thinking of trying this out with some slight variation in the form of curry powder and cream! Thanks!

Garlic Prarwns have been one of my favourites for years but this was the first time i have made them. I was so impressed they were fantastic, i use fresh parsley instead of Coriander and they were perfect.

Yum, certainly at least worth a few banana prawns dying for! I realised I only had sour cream on hand so instead used plain yoghurt which made a tasty and healthier substitute.

Fabulous recipe. Very easy to follow and quick cooking with amazing flavour. I was concerned about using a whole teaspoon of salt but it did seem to bring out the flavours. Thanks for posting a great recipe.
