An interesting change from guacamole, served directly on tortilla chips or crackers. Add more hot pepper sauce for a bigger kick if you want! You can leave it plain or add one of the suggested toppings below. From Food and Drink Magazine.

SERVES 10 -12 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • salt & freshly ground black pepper

Optional Toppings

Directions

  1. 1
Peel, dice and de-pit avocado and place in a food processor.
  2. 2
Add lime juice, hot pepper sauce and garlic.
  3. 3
Process until smooth and then season with salt and pepper.
  4. 4
Transfer to a bowl and cover by placing plastic wrap DIRECTLY onto the surface of avocado mixture.
  5. 5
    Refrigerate until serving.
  6. 6
To serve, you can serve it as is or add some of the optional toppings and serve with tortilla chips or crackers.

I made this today as a snack since Im doing a low carb diet before my surgery and this fit the bill. The lime juice being added really brightened up the taste of the avocado. I ate it with a spoon though Thanks Leslie.

We LOVE avocado - eat it ALL the time - and did very much enjoy this dip. I omitted the hot pepper sauce (we have zero tolerance of anything hot or spicy) and doubled the garlic (yes, we love garlic). Servings for 10-12!!! You've gotta be joking! Not when those eating the dip love avocado. Three of us knocked this off super-fast - without any difficulty! Thank you for sharing this yummy recipe. The lime, garlic, salt and freshly ground black pepper - so simple - with the avocado was just sensational. Thank you for sharing a super-yummy recipe, ~Leslie~. Made for ZWT 5.

WOW! This is 100% better than guacamole, because I hate onions. Putting this in the food processor gives it a wonderful creamy texture. I added extra hot sauce and topped with roma tomatoes. Ate with tortilla chips at first but then tried it as a topping for a veggie burger. Excellent!
