This recipe is SO SIMPLE! But oh so good!!!!!!! A great way to make a quick side dish without a lot of fuss, but great flavor! My own concoction, though I think it's Austrian...??? I think I saw Emeril?? make it years ago, but I didn't write it down. So this is my own version. My picky hubby even likes it! Haha! And he swears he hates Minute Rice!

SERVES 3 -4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In small saucepan, melt butter and add chopped onions. Cook onions about 5 minutes til just tender.
  2. 2
*Add garlic during the last minute.
  3. 3
Add water and boullion and bring to a boil.
  4. 4
Add rice, stir, put lid on and shut off heat.
  5. 5
    Let sit 5 minutes.
  6. 6
    Stir in mayo.
  7. 7
    Fold in peas.
  8. 8
    Wahlah! Easy as that!
  9. 9
If you like it creamier, add more mayo!
  10. 10
You can also add chopped parsley or a favorite herb.
  11. 11
    Serve with pepper if desired.
  12. 12
Just think of this as a starting point for however you would like to make it! :).
  13. 13
We like it as written, though. ;).
  14. 14
And I like that it's all in one pan! LOL!

Hi Kelly! Thank you so much for this tasty side dish! We had it along side Beef Rouladen. It was so easy to make and complimented the beef dish so well. Thanks again!

This really is delicious and very simple to make. I only had to use half the butter and half the mayo to get a very creamy, wonderful dish. I wish I'd cooked my frozen peas a little longer; normally, I like them with some snap to them, but I think soft would be better in this dish. Thanks for posting!

The first bite was kind of weird. I could taste the mayo. But after it was getting better less mayo taste. But DH really didn't like this. Because of the mayo. I cooked it in the microwave. Thanks Wildflour. Made for Beverage tag.
