Cowboy Donuts

They are actually muffins that taste just like cinnamon topped cake donuts. This is a very easy recipe that even children can make.

SERVES 12 , 12 muffins (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    In a medium mixing bowl, combine first four ingredients.Make a well in the center of the flour mixture.

    In a small mixing bowl, combine oil,egg,sugar and milk.
  3. 3
    Pour milk mixture into center of the well.
  4. 4
    Mix with a spoon just until moistened.
  5. 5
    Spoon batter into greased muffin pan, filling half way.
  6. 6
    Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.

    For topping, mix 1/2 cup sugar with the cinnamon.
  8. 8
    Dip tops of muffins in the melted butter, than in the cinnamon topping.

    Cool on a rack or serve warm.

These were bland, and did not make little donuts, but formed into perfect, well risen muffins.

    This is very tasty as written and I love the cakey, nutmeg flavor even without the cinnamon topping. I think next time I'll add a little vanilla and make a double batch to make bigger muffins. As written they do not fill out the muffin pan all the way instead making little "donuts."
