Copycat Mc Donald's Shamrock Shake

I used to absolutely love it when McDonald's brought out their Shamrock Shakes around St. Patrick's Day. The past couple of years I haven't been able to have it because of the dairy, so I was thrilled when I found this copycat recipe! Just use the soy ingredients to make it dairy-free.

I miss McDonald's Shamrock shakes! Why do all the good things dissapear? But now I can make my own at home. I used Breyer's double churn fat free vanilla ice cream, and vanilla soy milk (all I had at the time). Very tasty and refreshing! Next time I will use non fat milk, as the soy milk gave it a bit different flavor.

YUMMY! I miss the shamrock shakes from McDonalds so much! I have not seen them on the menu in years. I was so excited to try this recipe, and it brought back so many memories! Even my husband, who hates mint, thought it was excellent!

Easy, lovely, tasty. We liked this recipe better than the "original" you can buy. I used Breyer's Vanilla Ice Cream in this, and I also dipped my glass rims in water then a bowl of green sandning sugar to make a nice presentation.

I've never had a Shamrock Shake but this was a real treat tonight for our St Patrick's Day dessert. I reduced the amount of milk because I like thicker shakes. Sprinkled the top with green dyed raw sugar and garnished with fresh variegated mint leaves from the garden. Be cautious in the amount of mint extract you use in this shake. Add a drop, taste then add more if you think it needs it. Thanks! cg
