This is the closest recipe I can find to replicating the Kentucky Pie at McAlister's Deli. This stuff is absolutely to die for! It's great if you serve it like they do at McAlister's...warm, drizzled with chocolate syrup, topped with whipped cream, and served with vanilla ice cream.

1 pie (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Combine sugar, flour, and eggs; mix well.
  2. 2
Stir in nuts, coconut, and rum.
  3. 3
Melt the butter/margarine, then stir into mixture.
  4. 4
Pour chocolate chips on bottom of the unbaked pie shell.
  5. 5
    Pour mixture over chips.
  6. 6
Bake at 350°F for about 35 minutes.

Pretty good, but it was too dry. Needs something else...I will have to play around with the recipe a bit.

WOW!!!! What else can I say. This pie is fantastic. I threw it together in just a few minutes and I probably moaned like Rachel Ray while I was eating my first slice. The only change I made to the recipe was to use walnuts instead of pecan. I didn't have any pecans on hand. Thanks for the great recipe.
