Chocolate Walnut Kahlua Balls (No Bake)

I have made these using dark rum, Grand Marnier and Bailey's Irish Cream, you can use any three with success.. I usually make these treats around the holiday season, but of coarse you can make them at any time. I make one batch using semisweet chocolate and one with white chocolate, these really should chill overnight before serving them, you'll be lucky if they make until the next day LOL! Yield is only estimated depending on the size of the balls --- you will LOVE these!

40 balls (approx) (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or use white chocolate chips)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup Kahlua (or 1/2 cup dark rum)
  • 2 1/2 cups finely crushed vanilla wafer cookies (measure 2-1/2 cups after crushing, about 10 ounces)
  • 1 1/2 cups walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (can use regular sugar for coating also)

Directions

  1. 1
Stir the chocolate over simmering water in a double boiler until melted and smooth; remove from heat.
  2. 2
Whisk in 1/2 cup sugar and corn syrup then the Kahlua.
  3. 3
In a small bowl mix together the chopped walnuts and crushed wafers; add in the chocolate mixture and mix well.
  4. 4
    Shape into small balls.
  5. 5
Place powdered sugar in a shallow bowl.
  6. 6
Roll each ball in the powdered sugar to coat.
  7. 7
Place in an air-tight container and refrigerate overnight.

These were pretty good. Made for the Christmas party we hosted. Didn't seem to go over very well but we had a lot of food! I cheated and heated the chips in the microwave instead of a double boiler and it worked fine. Thanks for posting.

These are fantastic little treats! I made as directed with Kahlua, but will be playing with the flavors in the future! Thanks for posting!

These balls are wonderful! They remind me of a chocolate ball my mom made at Christmastime when I was a child--what wonderful memories! I decided to use Godiva Chocolate Liqueur instead of Kahlua or rum. I also rolled the balls in regular sugar. Thanks so much, Kitten.

These are very tasty. I must admit though, through my own fault, this was an exercise in improvisation. I wanted to make a double batch and assumed I had enough of everything to do so. So I started in melting the chocolate (enough for a double batch) and realized I had to use some pecans in addition to the walnuts, as I didn't have enough. Fine. Then I realized I didn't have enough vanilla wafers, so I subbed what I had left of a box of graham crackers, and it STILL wasn't enough. So I added a few crushed chocolate Teddy Grahams, LOL. I also didn't have enough kahlua to double, so I used half kahlua and half coconut rum. After ALL that, they still turned out great. Thanks for posting!
