Chocolate Orange Cream Cocktail

This is a drink that's as pretty as it is a sweet indulgence. In fact, we like to call it dessert in a martini glass. It tastes a bit like those Chocolate Orange Cream candy eggs, but a whole lot better and more grown up. Wanna really make this pretty? Drizzle some chocolate syrup lightly across the finished drink in a zig zag pattern. Oh yummy!

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder (for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon superfine sugar (for garnish)
  • 1 1/2 ounces chocolate liqueur (Godiva)
  • 1 ounce irish cream (Bailey's)
  • 3/4 ounce Grand Marnier
  • orange twists (for garnish)
  • ice

Directions

  1. 1
Mix two parts bittersweet chocolate powder and one part superfine sugar on a small plate. Rub the outside rim of a martini glass with water and then dip the outside rim into the chocolate-sugar mixture. Set aside.
  2. 2
Add Godiva liqueur and Bailey's to a shaker filled two-thirds with ice. Shake for 30 seconds and strain into martini glass. Float Gran Marnier Centenaire over the top and garnish with orange twist.

Oh gosh, this is SO good. I improvised a bit, used Godiva white chocolate liqueur, Panama Jack French vanilla cream, and rimmed the glass with Ovaltine I found the Grand Marnier was a bit overpowering with the liqueurs that I used, however, so I upped the amounts of the white chocolate liqueur and the French vanilla cream and it was PERFECT. Powerful little drink, yet light and delicious. Thanks so much!

I was out of cocoa powder, so I skipped the rim, but I bet it would be better with it. This was a little sharp for my tastes, but if someone made it for me, I would certainly drink it again!

I used Godiva white chocolate liqueur cause the other I got was cappucino. The taste was so good. I didn't measure the Grand Marnier I put on top. Maybe it was an ounce. I loved the taste. It's beautiful to serve to friends. Thanks Jess. Made for Holiday tag

This is a lovely upscale version of a B52 in that it is served in a beautiful and yummy chocolate rimmed martini glass. Very elegant and definitely company worthy.
