The only cocoa butter I could find was in a stick form, so I melted it and added the chips, vitamin E oil and cooking oil. Since it was so liquidy, I put it in the fridge and it hardened back into the original stick and everything separted into layers. Chocolate on the bottom and the rest a swirl mixture. Not sure what I did wrong. Maybe I shouldn't have refrigerated it. I can't get any out to use on my lips! Please let me know if you have any hints.

Everyone LOVED this! And it was so easy! I added 10 chocolate chips (Ghiradelli's Double Chocolate Chips, to be exact) and used the vitamin E oil instead of capsule, but it worked so great. I just threw in 1 oz. of cocoa butter, figuring that looked like about 3 Tbsp. to me. I had little teeny containers, so each batch filled 4 very full. My female relatives were all REALLY impressed that I made it myself. :D Thanks!

We made several batches of this for a Christmas party of all preteen girls, along with Fun Lip Gloss #43549. It was quick and easy, but unique enough for my daughters to get lots of raves over their unusual addition to the party. My Vit E was in oil form, so I used 1/2 tsp of that in place of the capsule plus the cooking oil. We did decide that for our next batch, the one we're keeping for ourselves, we'll probably double the amount of chocolate chips to really bring out the chocolate flavor. I found a package of inexpensive little plastic paint pots at the craft store that each held about 1-1/2 tsp and had airtight lids; this recipe filled 6 pots with each batch with a bit left over. It's great for my dd who has a lot of trouble with chapped lips but hates chap stick~ the cocoa butter and vit E are wonderful for her skin and the chocolate means she actually uses it. ;o) I'm definitely keeping this in mind for party favors, gift baskets, etc...with three daughters, there are plenty of opportunities to use this recipe again! Thanks!

This is so cool! The smell of melted cocoa butter trickles my nostrils
I didn't get chocolate chips at the store y'day, so I substituted that with 1/2 tsp. Nescafe coffee powder(to get a coffee flavoured lip balm), 1/2 tsp. Nesquik chocolate powder(to get a chocolate flavour lip balm) and 1 tsp. of Hintz Dutch processed cocoa powder(to get a dark chocolate colour and flavour lip balm). Instead of melting the cocoa butter in the microwave, I did it over the stove(much easier and quicker and plus I could enjoy the smell of the cocoa butter as it melted much more!). I did not use a Vitamin E capsule, because my cocoa butter formula is already enriched with Vitamin E. I just used some of this on my lip and my hands. My lips have a natural glossy effect and my hands are feeling as soft as those of a new born baby
This will make a great gift! Thanks for sharing and I hope you liked my coffee and chocolate substitute ideas!
