Chinese Style Fried Pork Chops

Recipe #124290 | 20 min | 10 min prep | add private note

By: Mom4Life
Jun 1, 2005

Savory with just a hint of sweetness, this pork chop is one of my husband's favorites. It whips up in no time and served with a quickly stir-fried veggie and rice, it makes a complete meal in under 30 minutes.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Tenderize meat pork with a meat mallet. If you're short on time, pound to at least 1/4 inch thickness or thinner.
  2. 2
Mix together all the ingredients except cornstarch and oil and pour over pork. Allow to marinate for 30 minutes. (I've marinated it as long as 1 day and as little as 10 minutes.).
  3. 3
Just before frying, pour cornstarch on top of pork and stir into marinade.
  4. 4
Heat enough oil in a large skillet to cover bottom. Place pork in pan when oil begins to shimmer. Cook pork chops over med-high heat until cooked through.

This is easy to make, tender and flavorful. OK, the kids and I did not like the five spice flavor but my husband loved it. Thank you.

Great easy to follow recipe! I cooked it and my partner loved it! One thing might be worth mentioning, if you do not have cornstarch, you can use potato starch!

I increased the Chinese 5-spice powder in this recipe and found the marinade to be excellent. (I tasted the mix prior to adding the egg, and decided that it needed the extra seasoning. My decision was right on for our tastes.) I used pork loin chops that I pounded thin with a meat mallet and marinated for about 30-45 minutes. This was an excellent pork recipe.

This was very nice. I used pork steaks that I tenderized with a mallet. I used the five-spice powder and followed your directions as written. These came out tasty, tender and it was easy to make. I served them with Baby Bok Choy Saute with Mushrooms and jasmine rice. My family was very pleased. Thank you for posting.
