Very nice as a quick snack or to serve with soup. They are mild spicy and you can spice them up by adding some ground cayenne or chilipepper. The original recipe uses fresh chillies but the canned ones make these puffs more moist. If you want to make them with fresh, use 2 green chillies, seeds removed and finely chopped.

15 -20 puffs (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. 2
Mix together in a bowl: egg, milk, salt (if using) cheese and the drained chillies.
  3. 3
Sift the flour together with the baking powder over the bowl and mix well.
  4. 4
Now add the rice krispies, and mix again.
  5. 5
Place rounded teaspoons on greased but better still, lined with parchment paper, baking trays and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.

These were really good. I sprinkled cornmeal on my baking sheet. That really kept them from sticking.

Made these today, and they are great little cookies....just want a little extra heat next time. I think when I make them next, I will us pepper jack cheese along with the can of chilis. Thanks for the great recipe.

I made these with the canned chopped chilies last night for a Mexican party. Everyone really liked them. I also added a dash of cayenne (red) pepper. Next time, however, I plan to add quite a bit more red pepper, or perhaps, some cooked, crumbed hot sausage. These baked up nicely and were attractive, I thought. Oh, and I used parchment paper on my cookie sheet, which I HIGHLY recommend for almost anything! Thanks for a great recipe! ~Ohgoodie

YUMMMMM! I experimented with one batch of these, I think I will have to make another one, I added in some cayenne pepper to the batter, I ran out of parchment so I baked them on foil, so make certain to grease your foil very well there is really no fat in these so they do stick. The trick is let them cool before you remove them! Great recipe Pets! thanks, Kitten
