This is only for my menu planning purposes. Its VERY easy and is basically the recipe on the back of the bean package! I also like to make this with a package of Hurst's Hambeens Chili 15 Bean Soup instead of Pinto beans and chili seasoning.

SERVES 10 , 2 1/2 quarts (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Soak beans overnight.
  2. 2
After soaking, drain water and add 2 qts water.
  3. 3
Bring beans to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 2 hours.
  4. 4
In a skillet, saute onion & garlic.
  5. 5
Add tomatoes and contents of flavor packet. Simmer 5 minutes.
  6. 6
Add mixture to bean pot. Simmer uncovered for an hour or until beans are tender.
