This is perfect for the family who does not like veggies, however I did puree cooked carrots, onions and celery in the broth before serving and nobody complained.

This was very good all of my familey loved it. I added 2 diced stalks of celery,2 diced carrots and 1 small onion diced to the water and chicken befor it was cooked for extra flavor.

This is my husband's favorite recipe for Chicken and Dumplings and it does taste almost identical to Cracker Barrel. I made this the other night and followed the directions exactly. Sometimes after I have cooked the chicken and before I put in the dumplings, I like to thicken it up with a little flour and milk. It's excellent either way.
