Wonderful comfort food for a cold day.

8 approx.....makes a large pot (change servings and units)

Ingredients

    Boil chicken, salt& poultry in approximately 2 quarts of water.
  2. 2
    Remove chicken and set aside.
  3. 3
    Add 3 cups milk (more for a richer flavor), bouillon cubes, and butter to broth.
  4. 4
    Bring to almost a boil.
  5. 5
    Add water to the flour to make a thin solution and pour in broth.
  6. 6
    Stir well, reduce heat, and let simmer to thicken.
  7. 7
    Add salt and pepper to taste.
  8. 8
    Pinch each biscuit to small pieces and put in broth.
  9. 9
    Stir often so dumplings won't stick together.
  10. 10
    When dumplings begin to sink, they are almost ready.

    Pick chicken to small pieces and add to broth.
  12. 12
    When dumplings are not gummy to taste, it is ready to eat.

Love this recipe!!! Thanks so much for posting it! The gravy and chicken were the best part! I only used 1/2 stick of butter like others and next time I'll use Bisquick dumplings. The can biscuits got too hard and weren't fluffy like I'm used to. But, it's also amazing on rice! YUM! YUM!

    When I tell you this C&D recipe is good - I mean it is "slap yo' Mama" good!!! My hubby said it was even better than his Mother's (lol). We LOVED it! Few things: I added some diced onions and green peppers, used about 1/2 the butter suggested, and only used 1 and a half cans of biscuits (we ate the rest with dinner). This recipe is a sure-fire hit with anyone who loves southern style comfort food!! Jeanene
