The first time I made this I made I cut the recipe in 1/2 using only the cheddar cheese soup and 8 x 8 pan. The next time I followed recipe exactly. I liked it better without the cream of mushroom soup.

My family has been making this since I was very little....I can't remember a time where we didn't have this recipe!! We didn't use the garlic, though....we should try that Also, we don't add cheddar cheese. Glad you've got this on here for other people to enjoy, too, Debbb!!!!

This was a fun dinner, and great for the kids. The flavor was pretty good, though I think the pepper taste was almost a bit overpowering - I'll definitely cut down on that next time - and though we love cheese, you could easily make do with less cheese for the topping. Because of a past reviewer's comments that this was greasy, I made sure to drain and pat dry my ground beef really well and chose 2% milk cheese instead of the full-fat stuff, and that seemed to help, because we didn't notice a problem with grease. Good recipe!

This was easy to make. I chose this a a kid-pleasing recipe and it wasn't a wrong choice. I did make a few changes. I halved the recipe and used only cheddar cheese soup. I don't like cr of mushroom soup. I still spread the meat mixture into a 13 x 9 pan, since I wanted the extra fries for my guys. I still baked for 30 minutes and it came out fine. I used Ore-Ida Extra Crispy fries. I topped my serving with green onions, bacon crumbles, and ranch dressing. It was similar to loaded cheese fries. Thanks for posting, debbb. Sue
