Recipe #142860 | 24 min | 10 min prep | add private note

By: hellokitty
Oct 26, 2005

From the Cheerios website. Sounds yummy!

SERVES 12 , 12 cookies (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Heat oven to 375°. Stir together sugar, butter, peanut butter, water, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients except cereal. Gently stir in cereal.
  2. 2
Drop dough by rounded 1/3 cupfuls 4 inches apart onto ungreased large cookie sheet. Flatten dough to about 1 inch thick.
  3. 3
Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes before removing from cookie sheet. Store loosely covered.
  4. 4
*If using spread, use only stick that has more than 65% vegetable oil.
  5. 5
High Altitude (3500-6500 ft): Increase bake time to 14-16 minute.
  6. 6
(The recipe doesn't say how many servings it comes up with, but I went with 12 cookies, but of course, if you want Jumbo ones then they will be bigger and you will get less cookies).

My kids didn't go for these for some reason. Maybe it was an overload of cheerios. I read (post baking) that some people added less cereal.

We tried these and they were okay, nothing spectacular, though one of my sons did snitch quite a bit of the peanut butter mixture before everything else was in it. I put the leftovers in the freezer because he still says "cooookie?" so cute (yes, I said leftovers). Another son keeps telling me that cookies are junk food, but then eats them anyway.

These cookies are outstanding! They are so hard to stop eating. I love the crunch of the cheerios with the oats and peanut butter flavour in these sweet cookies. YUM! That said, I find them too sweet for breakfast and made them, instead as regular dessert cookies. I, therefore, didn't make them jumbo but rather got about 5 dozen regular sized cookies. Delish!!!!

Made these for a school event but swapped the peanut butter out for Nutella Chocolate Hazelnut spread then also changed the raisins to dried cherries. Huge hit with everyone!! Also made it once with Craisins which were tangy and yummy!
