Cajun Popcorn Spice

Recipe #218983 | 4 min | 4 min prep | add private note

Although there are several recipes for Cajun flavored popcorn posted, this fiery blend has a unique combination of spices. Use this on your favorite popcorn popped in a microwave, on the stove or using popcorn popper. You will need a little moisture to get the spices to adhere, the choice (butter, margarine or a low calorie butter substitute) is yours. Store the spice in a air-tight container as you would other spice blends.

1/3 cups (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Chef's Note: The amount of cayenne is a matter of taste but also the heat level of your paprika. If you are in the slightest bit timid, start with 1/2 teaspoon, blend and add more if desired.
  2. 2
Mix all spices together in spice grinder or mini processor. Pulse quickly to mix spices and to break up the leaves of the herbs.
  3. 3
Sprinkle on popcorn to taste. Hot stuff!

I didn't put this on popcorn. Instead we put it on Uncle Bill's Microwave Potato Chips. It is very good on the potato chips. My dh likes it with a lot - I like a little less. Great that we can each have it our way. Thank you very much for the lovely recipe that we will use again & again.

My boys love those Red Hot Cheetos, so I decided to surprise them with some kick-up popcorn. Yowza, they were amazed and delighted that Mom made this for them. In other words Keeper will be making again for our movie nights. Thanks for Sharing.... ~V

Great mix of flavors! I used about 1/4 tsp. cayenne-can't handle too much heat! Thanks! Made for ZWT3!

We loved this! I used it on microwave popcorn and it was perfect. I'll keep this made up & at hand to use again. I also added this to my gift cookbook. I think it will be terrific for a gift basket. Thank you for sharing your recipe! Reviewed for World Tour 3.
