I love grapefruit and this makes a yummy breakfast for me. This is from Fine Cooking.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Position an oven rack about 4 inches below the broiler and heat the broiler on high.
  2. 2
With a serrated knife, cut the grapefruit in even halves.
  3. 3
Using a small paring knife or a grapefruit knife, cut each section away from the surrounding membrane.
  4. 4
Set the grapefruit halves in a shallow broiler-safe pan (such as an enameled baking dish or a heavy-duty rimmed baking sheet).
  5. 5
If necessary, trim a thin slice off their bottoms so they sit level.
  6. 6
In small bowl, stir together the honey and the vanilla extract.
  7. 7
Drizzle the honey mixture over the grapefruit halves.
  8. 8
Dust each with a bit of cardamom.
  9. 9
Broil until bubbling and lightly browned in spots, 4-6 minutes.
  10. 10
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  11. 11
Serve warm or at room temperature.

This was a nice breakfast side. I really liked the vanilla on it. The sweetness of the honey/vanilla was nice with the sour/tart of the grapefruit. Thanks so much for posting!

I too love grapefruit and wanted to try this recipe. I used 1/2 of a grapefruit and cut honey/vanilla mixture to 1/4 of the recipe. The grapefruit I bought recently haven't been as juicy and sweet as normal, so this was a great way to bring out the juices and sweeten it up!! I thought I had cardamon, but I couldn't find on my spice shelf, so couldn't add it this time!! Thanks for sharing a nice grapefruit recipe!!! Made for PRMR and Think Pink Event for Breast Cancer Awareness!!
