I remember having this as a child. It was the best cinnamon toast. We would watch as my mom made this and was amazed at how the cinnamon melted over the butter and hardened. She would serve this on the side of a bowl of sweet rice... which I have on Zaar too. (Mom's Sweet Rice Cereal) I now make this for my boys. They love it just as much if not more. The actual measurements are as much or little as you like on the toast.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Pre-heat your broiler. Lightly butter one side of each piece of bread. Place on cookie sheet. Sprinkle one teaspoon of white sugar across the surface of each piece of bread.
  2. 2
Shake cinnamon (to taste) over the sugar and butter layer.
  3. 3
Broil 6" below the broiler element until butter bubbles, sugar melts and cinnamon turns dark. Keep an eye on your cinnamon toast. This will only take a couple of minutes.
  4. 4
    Serve hot to warm.

This is it!! My mom always made this for me as a child and I could never remember quite how to make it. After trying many other recipes with no luck, I found this and it's perfect! Admittedly I did use a bit more butter, I just can't help myself (it's heaven with challah bread too)! Thank you so much chef-V!

This tastes like a cross between toast and a cinnamon roll. Makes a great breakfast to grab while you are running out the door. Loved it!

This is the only way we had cinnamon toast when I was a kid! I didn't even think anyone made cinnamon toast by using the toaster. But, my husband prefers that when the top side is warm and bubbly, that I flip it over to toast the reverse side, to make the toast crisper. So, for the last 36 years, I've been flipping over my cinnamon toast under the broiler to toast the flip side; ) To me, the bread always has to be a soft white bread, like Wonder. Wheat bread works just as well, but for me, the white bread brings back fond memories of my childhood. We make cinnamon toast often, so I keep a shaker container of sugar/cinnamon mixture available in my cabinet at all times mixing about 1 cup of sugar to 3 TBSP cinnamon (or there about). Be generous when you sprikle Thank you for posting this wonderful recipe for cinnamon toast, Chef Vseward!
